Legal And Abroad

Lions, Tigers, and Bears… OH MY! No, seriously… OH MY!!!

Hey Loves!

Legal and Abroad™️ is back with another jam packed adventure featuring Things to Do in Bangkok! Get ready as I share an unforgettable experience and guide you through the wild wonders and thrilling adventures that await.

Join me as Legal and Abroad™️ travels to this WILD side of Bangkok as we venture into Safari World, where the pulse of the city meets the heartbeat of the jungle. This experience includes awe-inspiring encounters, heart-pounding shows, and a dose of adrenaline for the thrill-seekers.

💎: This was a spur-of-the-moment experience. Establishing a good rapport with a guide can open doors to unique experiences and personalized excursions to discover hidden gems within the city. During my last excursion, I conveyed my preference for a zoo visit over a large group bus tour and my guide was happy to accommodate my request. I felt truly grateful for PA’s flexibility and assistance, especially since massive bus tours do not align with my preferred travel style. Building a positive connection with a guide can lead to tailor-made adventures that cater to your specific interests and preferences.

Safari World Background

Situated in the heart of Bangkok, Thailand, within the Khlong Sam Wa District and approximately one hour away from the city center, Safari world is a prominent attraction for wildlife lovers. Since 1988, Safari World has evolved into one of the largest open-air zoos in Asia, captivating visitors with Safari Park and Marine Park. This sprawling wildlife sanctuary serves as a home to a myriad of diverse and exotic animals dispersed across its expansive grounds. The park features animal residents such as tigers, giraffes, lions, and hippopotamuses.

Tickets and Hours

Safari World offers a variety of tickets to cater to different preferences. The basic admission ticket grants access to both Safari Park and Marine Park, allowing visitors to explore the diverse ecosystems. Upgraded tickets not only grant access to main attractions, they also unlock a spectrum of additional shows and experiences. These captivating attractions and performances ensure a more enriching experience.

Safari World has a perfect family-friendly atmosphere and is an animal lover’s paradise. Visitors can partake in numerous hands-on experiences, including the joy of feeding a variety of animals to forming connections by petting dolphins, camels, giraffes, and kangaroos. The park is committed to interactive encounters to ensure a memorable and educational experience for guests.

The park is open daily from 9 AM to 5 PM. It essentially takes most of the day to explore the park. Unfortunately, due to the rain, my trip was cut short. I did not mind as I was hot, tired, and ready to rest. Oh.. and hungry lol.

🔑: Booking tickets in advance is imperative to evade the long queues that can snake through the amusement parks. A popular website to use is Klook.

🔑: For an optimal visit, arrive at the amusement park early (before 9 AM). The park gets crowded quickly!

🔑: The park can be a bit confusing and sometimes it is easy to get lost. Especially when trying to find certain attractions. Map out your journey to plan accordingly and keep track of the showtimes.

💎: Wear comfortable shoes, pack sunscreen, and wear hats (if needed). The park gets HOT and the sweat is real! I swear my edges were sweated out before the first exhibit lol.

Safari Park

Safari World is a haven filled with wildlife encounters and exhilarating entertainment shows.

Safari Park Shows

The animal shows at Safari World serve as both entertainment spectacle and educational platforms. The goal is to enlighten visitors about the crucial need for the conservation of endangered species. Safari World also aims to convey a message of environmental responsibility and takes proactive measures to protect and preserve the diverse array of animals within the zoo.

Throughout the day, a total of eight captivating shows unfold at various times, offering a diverse range of experiences. Visitors can delight in the intelligence of orangutans, witness the agility of sea lions, marvel at cowboy stunts, and be enchanted by the graceful and majestic elephants. Additionally, visitors can revel in the playfulness of the dolphins, experience the exciting Spy Way, and charmed with the Bird Show. The flexibility of the scheduling allows visitors to catch multiple shows that resonates with their preferences and interests.

Orangutan Show

My initial stop at the Safari World shows led me to the captivating orangutan show, which embraced a lively Las Vegas boxing theme. The performance was comedic and featured orangutans engaging in playful “boxing” and executing amusing stunts alongside skilled professionals. One of the storylines that unfolded is the orangutans showcasing their boxing prowess in a bid to win the affection of a fellow female. Additional spectacles involved riding bicycles and the clever “outsmarting” of the trained professionals. Other unexpected humorous twists included orangutans playfully taking off their shorts during certain moments of the show.

🔑: Arriving at the shows early is crucial. Each performance draws hundreds of eager attendees and the venues reach maximum capacity swiftly.

Elephant Show

The Elephant Show is a crowd favorite and one of the most popular shows. These magnificent creatures showcase their extraordinary talents through a repertoire of stunts and tricks. Visitors will witness the elephants dance gracefully, showcase their football skills, and captivate the audience with their playful and endearing performances. The show is a testament to the intelligence and charm of these gentle giants and a must highlight at Safari World.

Cowboy Stunt

The Cowboy Stunt show transports guests to the rugged landscapes of the Wild West. This high-energy adventure features a captivating display of bullwhips, guns, and horses. The performance is a spectacle of knock-downs, fist fights, and impressive special effects, immersing the audience in the thrilling spirit of the frontier.

Bird Show

During the Bird Show, a dazzling array of vibrant birds take center stage to showcase their incredible abilities alongside the skilled and dedicated staff.

During my visit, I also observed some spotted leopards.

Feeding Frenzy

Participating in animal feeding sessions provides visitors with the unique opportunity to gain insights into the behaviors and lifestyles of the diverse array of animals within the park. This fosters a deep connection while interacting with the animals.

Giraffe Terrace

Upon discovering the Giraffe exhibit after the orangutan show, I swiftly made my way there. It appeared that everyone else had the same idea. The resulting crowd-induced stress was quite overwhelming for me. Not being a fan of crowded spaces, this experience served as a valuable lesson in planning visits more strategically.

Giraffes hold a special place in my heart; they are my FAVORITE animals, and their presence even graces my home decor. A substantial chunk of my time was spent at the Giraffe exhibit. I was there for a WHILE y’all!

🔑: DO NOT GO AFTER A SHOW. DO NOT GO AFTER A SHOW. DO NOT GO AFTER A SHOW.

🔑: Giraffe Terrace tends to get CROWDED by large tour groups after shows, often creating an unpleasant atmosphere. There is a lot of shoving and competing for giraffe food. I observed some individuals wait until someone is feeding a giraffe and then hop in a picture to steal the moment. In my opinion, it is not that deep to do all of that. It is also extremely rude.

💎: Optimal enjoyment is achieved by waiting patiently about 30-45 minutes after a show concludes. During this time, the surroundings transform into a more serene and empty space, allowing for a peaceful and enjoyable experience with the majestic giraffes.

Initially, I was there during the bustling phase, and I will spare the pictures because it was beyond outrageous. Following that, I transitioned into the serene and almost empty phase where I leisurely spent time just hanging with the giraffes, feeding them, and observing their graceful movements.

Truly in a happy place

With Love, xoxo Lauren

After saying my goodbyes to the giraffes, it was time to make my way to some additional feeding activities.

More Feeding Fun

When choosing to feed the baby tigers or bond with orangutans, be prepared for a queue. I strongly recommend arriving early and being prepared to wait. I was stationed with my fan patiently waiting for the exhibit to open up. The early-bird strategy ensured a smoother experience.

🔑: Bring a fan. It will come in handy as a cooling device in the hot and humid weather. I told y’all in the previous post that I was sweating and keeping it cute at the same time lol.

Feeding Baby Tigers

Engaging with baby tigers proved to be an exciting and intense experience. The tigers initially nap before their feeding time. Once they are awake, their hunger is palpable, as they eagerly gulp down the milk. I was the first to hold the tiger and my little striped companion cozied up to me as I fed it. Initially it was a challenge adjusting to the tiger’s feeding style. It is important to hold the bottle securely and firmly as the tigers are aggressive and enthusiastic during feeding time.

Orangutan Bonding

During this experience, multiple stations feature orangutans, allowing visitors to choose which one they want to interact with. Whether it is a duo, girl, or boy, the choice is yours. Little did I realize how mischievous this orangutan would turn out to be! Despite their laid back and fun-loving nature, I was surprised with their climbing antics and playful shenanigans.

What threw me off guard the most were the following pics. My head spun so fast that I did not grasp what was unfolding until it happened. The nervous laughter captured in this picture perfectly reflects the whirlwind of emotions I internally experienced. This was an experience where I had to go along with the unexpected twists and turns.

On the inside, I felt like…

Meanwhile, my guide PA was in the crowd taking pictures like…

Safari Feeding Experience

Another thrilling feeding option is the Safari feeding experience where participants enter a cage and feed raw meat to tigers and lions within their natural habitat. This unique opportunity is on my radar for my next visit and earned its place on my bucket list of must-try experiences.

Additionally, visitors have the option to feed hippopotamuses. Be careful though, if you know… you know.

Marine Park

Safari World’s Marine Park features marine life and thrilling shows. This world of aquatic wonders is where dolphins, penguins, seals, sea lions, and other animals take center stage.

The Dolphin Show intricately showcases the extraordinary flips and tricks these intelligent animals can perform. Visitors will witness the impressive skills of the dolphins. Adding to the interactive experience, they are even allowed to pet these remarkably intelligent creatures.

These irresistibly cute creatures burst with energy and playfulness as they play catch and football with the skillful trainers.

Spy War Show

Visitors can immerse themselves in the excitement of Spy War, a riveting and action-packed show that delves into a world of espionage and international intrigue. This show involves high-stakes drama, daring maneuvers, and a captivating storyline of world spies and covert operations that keeps visitors on the edge of their seats.

Additionally, visitors can take a Jungle Cruise that allows them to observe animals in their natural habitat.

During my exploration adventure, it started raining. This cut my visit short. The inclement weather provided an optimal opportunity to transition to the drive-thru safari.

Drive-Thru Safari

Safari Drive is an unique and exhilarating opportunity to witness wild animals in their natural habitats. While driving through, you will see majestic creatures such as rhinos, lions, tigers, giraffes, ostriches, and zebras all roaming freely.

For a safe and enjoyable experience, it  is important to adhere to the park’s rules and guidelines. Throughout the park, there are instructions for when to keep windows closed and when it is safe to roll them down. Additionally, if you have car issues, the park will instruct you to stay inside and blow your horn for assistance.

Although it was raining, this was another visit highlight, and it provided an up-close encounter with the wonders of the animal kingdom. The entire drive takes about 45 minutes

Food Stop

As my journey came to an end, I went to a local Thai restaurant for some Thai food.

As usual, the food was delicious!

Conclusion

Overall, this was a lovely experience filled with adventure that blends the excitement of a zoo with a thrilling safari adventure. From the vibrant and educational shows to the interactive feeding sessions and unique Safari Drive, there is something for everyone to experience. This is a perfect destination for animal lovers. This memorable adventure left me with a newfound appreciation for wildlife and the natural world.

  1. I thoroughly enjoyed this Safari adventure and it surely kept my attention.
I admire your courage and boldness to interact with the animals. It is something I could not do myself for two reasons. Reason # 1 is that I am very allergic to animals and my health would suffer. Reason two is I am extremely afraid of large and unpredictable animals.
They would sense my great fear right away. So that being said I can’t say I would try to experience this particular adventure of yours. I truly enjoyed this episode of your travels.
