Legal And Abroad

Hi Loves!

Long time, right? I know, I know. Life has been Life’in and I am so thrilled to get back into blogging! I have missed you all! So let’s drop a few updates:

Time for some Travel Tea!

Lately I have been traveling the world and discovering God’s creations. Traveling the world, meeting new people, and discovering new places are my passions. I feel as if I leave a piece of my heart in every country I travel to. Last year, I went on my first solo international trip (check it out here). Was I scared? A little.

Okay maybe a lot… wellllll a bug bit me and now I love solo travel. Friends have asked me how do I just catch a flight to a foreign land alone and do I ever get bored. I really do not have an answer for the first question except I just do it lol. For the second question- No, I am never bored because I always have fun experiences. What I discovered during this journey is that solo travel is not so scary and it taught me another level of trusting myself. I also have met so many wonderful people from all walks of life during my travels.

Now I will admit, sometimes I go rouge on my itinerary and do something spontaneous like travel to another country while on my current vacation. (I know, that is where trusting myself comes in and also how I accidentally made it past my travel goal so quickly lol).

Disclaimer: I am NOT saying abandon ship and travel alone to some foreign place and just be out here without a care in the world. Please use your best judgment and make your safety a priority.

For 2023, my goal was to visit four new countries. Well, it is April and I am past that goal with well over half the year left. So I have set a new travel goal and am excited for my upcoming trips! Don’t worry, I will give all the keys and gems on the destinations I experienced!

I am not here to “romanticize” solo travel. Trust me it is great although it requires thorough planning and execution- especially when you are a black woman abroad. Even when I find new activities to do while in a specific country, I always get advice from locals to ensure my safety.

Now you know we do not gate keep at Legal and Abroad™️. I am pretty excellent at curating trips. It’s kinda my thing and I get a thrill out of planning out my adventures. However, I am very new to solo travel and planning those trips takes another level of experience sometimes. Quite frankly, I am not quite ready for that responsibility or level of independence yet (check on me in 2024). I have a good friend of mine at Dynamite Travel that curates my solo trips. Safety is my number one concern as a solo traveller, and to be honest, she has A LOT more experience than I do when it comes to solo travel.

Sometimes I want a trip to relax and do nothing… and I mean NOTHING!

Sometimes I want to go hiking and be out in nature.

(Yes, I do hike and may or may not have slipped a few times).

Sometimes I want to be a cool kid that experiences a swaggy city vibe and fast paced culture.

No matter my mood, Dynamite Travel exceeds my expectations. She is patient with me because I just want to go everywhere and sometimes I cannot choose one place. Most importantly, she ensures I feel safe traveling to these countries. You are guaranteed a 5-star experience with Dynamite Travel. Please check her out here.

Oh, and she has your girl down to only traveling with a CARRY-ON!

If you know me, I am (well now formerly) a PROFESSIONAL over packer and bag checker!

If you would have told me a year ago that I would be traveling the world with a book bag and carry-on for extended trips, I would have not believed you. It is so freeing to walk past those long lines at the baggage check counter. It definitely saves me on my airport arrival times.

I will say this… while I love being “Carry-on Shawty”, it is definitely one star when I am running through the airport to catch my flight. Sometimes I feel like the carry-on is holding me back lol.

Now back to our regularly scheduled updates:

During my travels, I have laughed until my stomach hurts, met interesting people, made new travel friends, cried tears filled with gratitude, picked medicinal plants in the rainforest, and ate until I could not fathom another bite. I truly have had some of the most incredible experiences of my life.

Don’t worry, I will share in my upcoming blogs. But you gotta keep it on the lowest of keys. Shhhh! Just kidding! Sharing is caring around here! Tell a friend, to tell a friend. There are so many places to explore and hopefully you can experience some of these destinations too!

I express my sincerest gratitude when I say that I appreciate you all for still riding with Legal and Abroad™️ although I have been on an extended hiatus. It truly means the world to me. From the bottom of my heart, thank you for your continued support.

So stay tuned, Loves. Legal and Abroad™️ is BACK!

Stay Grateful, Dream BIG, and Happy Travels!
